Sandbach Fayre 1999

Every year, on the May day public holiday, Sandbach is the scene of a festival and the town centre becomes a pedestrian area. In some years there is an old english Elizabethan theme and the traders dress up in costume.

In front of the library there is a funfair with stalls and rides for the children.

The market square features an ox roast and events in aid of charity.

There are many market stalls selling goods and produce.

In the town hall there is a craft fair with works made by local artists.
These paintings are by Michelle Martin who works from her loft studio at home, making her own paper to use as a base for her paintings. She also designs ceramic patterns. Tel: 01782 860862

These original hand-made art clocks are by John Beresford. He adopts the philosophy of William Morris who said that everything should be decorative and useful.

There are also live performances by local dance groups. This production was called 'Tribute to Max Factor'

Next to the fire station there are demonstrations about fire safety. This picture shows the explosion that happens when you pour water onto a fire in a chip pan. Not recommended! Another big mistake is to try to carry the pan outside!
The safe method is to cover the pan with a damp (wring out excess water) cloth and then turn off the heat.
Wait at least 30min for the pan to cool down.
P.S. Now is a good time to test your smoke detector!
