The story of Brereton began in the last Ice Age when melting water left huge deposits of sand.

Until 1959 the poor sandy soil supported a woodland plantation and heath vegetation which
was managed for timber and game.

A member of Crewe and Nantwich Conservation Volunteers works to improve the habitat for the wildlife.Cheshire Countryside Management have organised Willow Workshops on the site to teach traditional crafts such as basket making and fence construction. |
