Aurora 6 April 2000

This aurora was the result of a solar outburst some two days earlier.
Charged particles emitted by the sun were deflected by the earth's magnetic field and collided with the upper atmosphere to produce these colourful displays.
By chance this event happened on the same night as a lunar and planetary conjunction.
