Demolition of Alsager Campus

I visited the campus today (16/9/2012), having known for some time that it was to be closed. It was heartbreaking to see it boarded up and the front gate locked. My husband and I took many photos as I remembered all the good times I'd had there as a student.

I studied teaching, music and geography there from 1990 to 1994. I lived through the change from Crewe and Alsager College of Higher Education to it becoming a Faculty of MMU. I still have my student number 902532 imprinted on my memory.

I lived in Kellett Hall, room 49, for my first year and have 'fond' memories of orange and brown furnishings! I was relieved to see Kellett still standing, but saddened that the newer, smarter, Woodiwiss had already been demolished and nature had reclaimed the land.

I've read the plannig data on the site and it seems that development has been delayed due to the recession. Good to see the sports facilities still retained by MMU though.

I only wish I had the millions to purchase the site!

Such fond memories.
