Parking charges ought to be introduced in Alsager and the money spent on better public transport

• It will discourage shoppers and more retail premises will close. Alsager's free parking is one of the attractions.

21 Sep 04:
• A massive amount of money would have to be spent on steel forests of 'No Parking' signs and ugly yellow lines round all the side streets.

• It would cost a lot of money to build barriers and hire car park attendants.

• The cars would be forced to park in the side streets and there would be more accidents with people crossing the road in between the cars.
