INDEXCongleton Police Congleton Police Community Action Team

Alsager sits within the Congleton and Vale Royal Police Division.
Recently there appears to have been a myth that anything to do with local policing in the Congleton Borough is directed from Northwich Police Station. This is not the case.

The structure for policing in the borough is as follows :

Response Policing : 26 officers based at Sandbach Police Station covering Sandbach, Middlewich, Holmes Chapel, Cranage and Goostrey.

Response policing : 29 officers based at Congleton Police Station covering Congleton and Alsager.

The officers on response policing work a shift pattern that provides police cover in the borough 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

In addition to this is the Congleton Borough Community Action Team. At
present it consists of 2 Sergeants and 8 Constables. It provides locally based officers who work in partnership with a host of other agencies in an effort to seek long term solutions to ongoing crime and disorder issues. Alsager has two Community Action Team officers assigned to it namely PC Mark Guildford and CSO Tony Hayes. They are based within Alsager Police Station and are responsible for community type policing in Alsager.

All of the above is overseen by an Inspector based at Congleton Police
Station who has sole responsibility for policing matters within the Congleton Borough.

One of the biggest questions that arises from residents in the borough is " we never know who to contact "

In an effort to address this the following may be useful :

In emergencies ring 999 - this includes incidents where there is a danger to life, a threat of violence, a crime in progress or a road traffic accident where injury has been sustained.

For occasions where a police presence is required but the presence is not required immediately then ring 01260 271144. This call will be dealt with by the call handling centre based at the police headquarters at Winsford who will despatch an officer from Congleton Police Station to deal with the incident.

All previously listed police numbers are now diverted into this call handling facility.

To make contact with a local Community Action Team officer please ring 01244 613538. This is a voicemail facility provided for borough residents to leave their details and the nature of their enquiry so that the local officer can make contact the next time he or she is on duty.

We are keen to promote Home Watch within the Congleton Borough. All Home Watch matters are currently overseen by a Home Watch Co Ordinator based at Northwich Police Station. Her name is Liz Biddle who can be contacted via e mail at
